Biography
Josh Thomas

Josh E. Thomas is a Marine combat veteran, attorney, husband, and father who has dedicated his career to public service. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1987, Thomas answered the call to serve following the September 11th attacks, joining the Marine Corps and training at Officer Candidates School in Quantico. During his five years of active duty, he led Marines on tours in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
After leaving active service, Thomas pursued a legal education to continue serving his community through the law. He is married to Mahlet, whom he met while both were law students. The couple has a son named Ezra. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Thomas again answered the call to service by joining Virginia's Medical Reserve Corps.
As an attorney, Thomas has focused on uplifting communities, ensuring affordable housing, and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses across Virginia. He has also been an advocate for veterans' rights, the LGBTQ+ community, and those seeking asylum.
Education
Thomas earned his legal education at the College of William and Mary, where he studied law alongside his now-wife Mahlet.
Political Experience
Thomas was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 21 and is currently serving his second term. In his first term, he spearheaded legislation regulating the data center industry, curbing fentanyl distribution, protecting children from social media addiction, and providing tax relief to working Virginians. His legislative priorities include improving public safety, advancing service member and veteran benefits, regulating data centers, reducing the cost of living, and advocating for a family-first economy that prioritizes maternal wellness, healthcare, and affordable housing.
