Biography
Josh Kohl is a Republican Idaho State Senator representing District 25. Born and raised in Idaho, he embodies traditional conservative values and a commitment to public service. He assumed office on December 1, 2024, after winning the 2024 general election, defeating incumbent Linda Wright Hartgen in the Republican primary; his current term ends December 1, 2026. Kohl serves on the Agricultural Affairs, Resources & Environment, and Transportation committees, focusing on sustainable agriculture, infrastructure, and natural resource management. His engineering expertise informs his views on technology's impact on Idaho industries. Previously, he worked as an engineer in the dairy processing industry and as a firefighter, including wildland firefighting. He is involved in community service as a board member of the Magic Valley Liberty Alliance, an elected member of the Twin Falls Republican Central Committee, and a Sunday School teacher. Kohl enjoys paddle boarding, dirt biking, and CrossFit.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho in 2019, specializing in robotics.
- Political Experience: Began involvement post-2020 election as a precinct committeeman in Twin Falls; first-term senator elected in 2024 as a "real Republican" advocating conservative solutions on child protection and rule of law.
