Biography
Josh Keyser is a Republican Idaho State Senator representing District 20. He assumed office on December 1, 2024, after winning the 2024 primary and general elections, with his current term ending December 1, 2026. Born in May 1986 in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles, California, he is a descendant of Mayflower passenger George Soule and Revolutionary War veteran David McQuitty; his family settled in Idaho in the 1890s. Keyser served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry machine gunner, nuclear weapon security specialist, and military police officer, holding a SECRET clearance. He relocated to Boise, Idaho, in 2018, worked briefly as a Boise police officer , then homeschooled his three children and served as vice principal of Vineyard Christian Academy in the Treasure Valley. Married to Michelle, he resides in Meridian, Idaho. His legislative priorities include improving transportation infrastructure, enhancing healthcare services, and ensuring public safety. In 2026, he is seeking re-election in the May 19 Republican primary.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business organizational management from Vanguard University of Southern California.
- Political Experience: First term as Idaho State Senator for District 20 ; won 2024 primary over Senate Pro Tem Chuck Winder and general election . Previously filed a lawsuit against the City of Boise .
