Biography
Josh Kaul is a Democratic politician serving as the 45th Attorney General of Wisconsin since January 7, 2019. He represents the statewide office of Attorney General, with no specific district. Elected in 2018 by defeating Republican incumbent Brad Schimel and reelected in 2022 against Eric Toney, Kaul is the son of former Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager. Notable achievements include addressing the backlog of untested sexual assault kits, combating the opioid epidemic and meth use, advancing gun violence prevention, pursuing environmental protection, and bringing felony forgery charges in 2024 against operatives involved in fraudulent 2020 electoral college votes from Wisconsin.
