Biography
Josh Harkins is a Republican member of the Mississippi State Senate, representing District 20, which includes parts of Rankin County.
Josh Harkins was born on April 5, 1974, in Jackson, Mississippi. He is married to Andrea Scales, and they have two children, residing in Flowood, Mississippi. Before entering politics, he worked in construction and real estate, including as a commercial builder, developer, licensed real estate broker, Vice President of Harkins Realty, Inc., and owner of JMH Construction Company. He co-founded JR Constructors, specializing in storm and disaster-related services, and served on the Merit River Oaks Hospital Board of Directors as of 2019.
Education and Political Experience
Harkins graduated from Mississippi State University and returned to Jackson in 1997. He has served in the Mississippi State Senate since 2012, representing District 20 as a Republican. Notable committee assignments include the Congressional Redistricting Committee, Senate Energy Committee, Finance Committee, Senate Insurance Committee, Senate Legislative Budget Committee, Reapportionment Committee, Senate Medicaid Committee, Public Health and Welfare Committee, Senate Public Property Committee, and Senate Universities and Colleges Committee.
