Biography
Josh Cantrell is a Republican representing Oklahoma House District 49, which includes areas such as Ardmore, Burneyville, Dickson, Greenville, Healdton, Kingston, Lebanon, Leon, Lone Grove, Madill, Marietta, Oakland, Thackerville, and Wilson in Marshall County. Born on January 14, 1975, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, he is a lifelong resident of Kingston and was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2022, succeeding term-limited Representative Tommy Hardin after winning the Republican primary against Richard Miller; he was sworn in on November 16, 2022. Notable achievements include serving as Marshall County Commissioner for District 2 since 2017 and as County Commissioner Chairman, sitting on the ACCO Legislative Committee board, and being selected for the 2025 Milbank Fellows Program for health policy leadership. He currently serves as Majority Caucus Secretary and Vice Chair of the House Health and Human Services Oversight Committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Kingston High School in 1993; earned an associate degree from Murray State College in 1995; obtained a bachelor’s degree from East Central University.
- Professional Background: Worked in the construction industry starting in 1999 as a senior project manager for firms handling projects across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands; owns Kingston Sign and Design.
- Political Experience: Elected Marshall County District 2 Commissioner in 2016 ; member of CAB Board and CED 3 Board; elected to Oklahoma House District 49 in 2022 .
