Biography
Josey Garcia is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 124 in West San Antonio, Bexar County. She is the first active-duty woman veteran to serve in the Texas House, elected in 2022 and reelected in 2024 with 61.5% of the vote. A retired U.S. Air Force veteran, she spent her early years in foster care, attending 13 schools before enlisting at age 16. After retiring in 2014, she became a published author and community advocate, co-founding Uniting America Outreach in 2020, which delivered over 9,000 meals during Winter Storm Uri in 2021 and raised over $50,000 for border crisis relief in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, in 2022. In her first legislative session, she authored 39 bills and joint-authored 175. She is married to Army veteran Ramon Garcia, a Purple Heart recipient, and they have a blended family of eight children, including two adult sons on the autism spectrum. Garcia champions veterans, foster children, retirees, working families, affordable housing, and justice.
