Joseph L. Schiavoni is a Democratic politician and judge from Ohio. He previously served in the Ohio Senate representing the 33rd District from 2008 to 2018, including as Ohio Senate Minority Leader from 2013 onward. Since 2020, he has served as a Judge in the Mahoning County Court. Notable achievements include championing collective bargaining rights for workers and running as the first Democrat in the 2018 Ohio gubernatorial race.

Education and Political Experience

• Grew up on the South Side of Youngstown and graduated from Boardman High School.
• Earned a law degree, was admitted to the Ohio Bar Association, and worked as a worker's compensation lawyer representing injured workers, following his father and grandfather.
• Appointed to the Ohio Senate in 2008, elected to full terms in 2010 and 2014.
• Unanimously elected Democratic Senate Leader in 2013.
• Transitioned to Mahoning County Court Judge in 2020.
