Biography
Joseph Franklin Hernandez is a Democratic member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 4 in San Juan County, which includes Shiprock and parts of Farmington. Born and raised in Shiprock, he serves as a community organizer and has been in office since 2025.
Notable achievements include earning awards for voter organizing in the Navajo Nation, co-sponsoring House Memorial 15 to support renewing the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, and receiving a 2024 endorsement from Planned Parenthood for his support of abortion access.
