Biography
José Luis Solache Jr. is a Democrat representing California's 62nd Assembly District since 2024. The district includes cities such as Bellflower, Huntington Park, Lakewood, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, South Gate, and parts of unincorporated Los Angeles County in the Gateway Cities region. He won the 2024 general election against Republican Paul Jones with 66% of the vote and identifies as LGBTQ+. Prior to the Assembly, Solache served on the Lynwood City Council from 2013 to 2024 , was mayor of Lynwood, and worked as government and community relations director for the Oldtimers Foundation, a nonprofit serving seniors; he also led the Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce. He serves on select committees including CalFresh Enrollment and Nutrition, California-Mexico Bi-National Affairs, Child Care Costs, Housing Finance and Affordability, Independent Restaurant Industry, Status of Boys and Men of Color, and Transportation Costs and Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
