Biography

Jonathan Dismang

Jonathan Dismang is a Republican member of the Arkansas Senate representing District 18, which comprises all of White County and parts of Faulkner and Cleburne Counties. Born on July 30, 1979, he is a resident of Beebe in White County. Dismang owns and operates Dismang Consulting Services, LLC, and is affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Education

Dismang graduated from Beebe High School. His hometown connections include both Maynard in Randolph County and Beebe in White County.

Political Experience

Dismang has served in the Arkansas General Assembly since 2011. He initially served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011, representing House District 49. He was elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2010.

His Senate service includes representation of three different districts due to redistricting. He represented Senate District 29 from 2011 to 2013, Senate District 28 from 2013 to 2023, and has represented District 18 since 2023.

Leadership Positions and Committee Assignments:

Dismang has held significant leadership roles, including serving as President Pro Tempore of the Arkansas Senate during the 90th and 91st Arkansas General Assemblies. Currently, he serves as Senate co-chair of the Joint Budget Committee and vice chair of the Transportation, Technology, and Legislative Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Revenue and Taxation Committee, the Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee, the Rules, Resolutions, and Memorials Committee, the Legislative Facilities Committee, the Joint Performance Review, and the Arkansas Legislative Council.

Legislative Achievements:

Dismang has sponsored and co-sponsored significant legislation throughout his tenure, including leading efforts to reduce Arkansas income tax, co-sponsoring Act 154 in 2021 to exempt unemployment benefits from state income tax for 2020 and 2021, and sponsoring legislation to amend the Arkansas Ethics Commission duties and the Arkansas Renewable Energy Development Act of 2001.
