Biography
Jonathan "Jon" D. Zlotnik is a Democratic politician who served as the Massachusetts State Representative for the 2nd Worcester District from January 2013 until announcing he would not seek re-election after a 14-year tenure. The district includes the town of Ashburnham, the city of Gardner, and the towns of Templeton and Precincts 2 and 3 of Winchendon. A lifelong resident of the district and son of an electrician and a teacher, Zlotnik focused on issues affecting working families. In 2023, he ran unsuccessfully for the Worcester and Hampshire seat in the Massachusetts Senate, losing to Republican Peter Durant.
Education and Political Experience
Zlotnik gained early political experience as a summer aide for Representative Robert Rice in 2007 and 2008. While a senior in college in 2012, he launched a successful campaign for the 2nd Worcester House seat, defeating Republican Richard M. Bastien; he deferred law school at Suffolk University and U.S. Navy plans to assume office. He served on the Joint Committee on Education and held the position until at least January 2027.
