Jon Patterson is a Republican state representative serving Missouri's 30th House District, which includes parts of Lee's Summit in Jackson County. First elected in 2018 and taking office in 2019, he currently serves as Speaker of the House, a position he won in 2025 with 152 votes against challenger Justin Sparks. Patterson is the first Asian American elected to this role in Missouri. A native of Jackson County born in Blue Springs, he lives in Lee's Summit with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Leah and Andrew. His priorities include property tax fairness, infrastructure improvements, education and childcare access, public school support, and enhancing public safety. Education and Political Experience

Patterson earned both his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Missouri. He completed a surgical residency at University Health in Kansas City and practiced as a general surgeon in eastern Jackson County before entering politics. His political career began with election to the Missouri House in 2018, followed by rapid advancement to leadership as Speaker in 2025.
