Biography
Jon Koznick is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 57A in the southern Twin Cities metropolitan area, including Lakeville and parts of Dakota and Scott Counties. Born July 4, 1972, in Colombia, he was placed in an orphanage at age five after his mother's death, adopted soon after, and brought to the United States; he moved to Lakeville, Minnesota, in 2001. He is married to Patty with two children and works as a business owner in real estate. Elected in 2014, he previously represented District 58A and is currently in his sixth term. Notable positions include Co-Chair of Transportation Finance and Policy, and service on Ways and Means, Capital Investment, and State Government Finance and Policy committees. Achievements include co-sponsoring gun law enforcement, recruiting teachers of color, and a constitutional amendment for quality public education; he opposed a fifth income tax tier on high earners.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.S. in marketing, St. Cloud State University .
- Political Experience: First elected to the Minnesota House in 2014 as a Republican; he and Rep. Eric Lucero were the first Latino Republicans in the Minnesota Legislature. Reelected every two years since, serving continuously since January 2015.
