Biography
Jon Cross is a Republican who served three terms as state representative for Ohio's 83rd District in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024. Born in Kenton, Ohio, he is married to Christina and has two children. A graduate of Kenton High School and The Ohio State University , he previously served as President/CEO and economic development director of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance. Now President of Cross Capital Consulting, an Ohio-registered lobbying firm, he advocates for economic development, workforce development, public education, higher education, and infrastructure. Notable achievements include authoring 14 bills that became law, securing over $123 million in state funding for his district, and leading initiatives like the $50 million rural broadband program, $500 million water/wastewater fund, $750 million All Ohio Future Fund, TechCred bill for workforce upskilling, and elements of the GROW Ohio Act. Elected Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the 135th General Assembly , he helped rank Ohio among the top 10 most business-friendly states. He lost his 2024 Republican primary bid for the 83rd District. Community involvement includes St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Ohio Farm Bureau, Ohio State Alumni Association, and NRA.
