Johnny Rye

Johnny Rye is a Republican politician from Arkansas currently serving his 5th term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents the 36th district, which encompasses parts of Poinsett, Mississippi, and Craighead counties. Rye resides in Trumann with his wife Julie and has one daughter and one grandson. He is active in his community, serving as District Governor for the Arkansas Lions Club and maintaining membership in the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge.
Education and Professional Background
Rye is a graduate of Arkansas State University. Prior to his legislative service, he had a distinguished career in local government, serving as the Assessor for Poinsett County from 1991 to 2016—a position he held for 25 years. During much of his tenure as assessor, he served on the board of the Association of Arkansas Counties and participated in the association's legislative committee.
Political Experience
Rye was originally elected to the Arkansas State House in 2016 and has been elected to subsequent terms in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023. For the 95th General Assembly, he serves on the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, the House City, County, and Local Affairs Committee, and the Joint Auditing Committee.
