Biography
Johnny C. Garrett, a Republican, represents Tennessee House District 45 in the northern suburbs of Nashville, including areas like Goodlettsville and Sumner County. Born August 8, 1978, he is a seventh-generation Goodlettsvillian who has lived in Sumner County for over 35 years. An attorney practicing since 2006, he represents small to medium-sized businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals in probate and estate planning. Garrett serves on boards including Goodpasture Christian School, Volunteer State Community College Foundation, and United Way of Sumner County. He co-founded the 100 Club of Sumner County to aid families of fallen first responders and is president of Goodlettsville Little League Baseball. Elected in 2018 after the incumbent's retirement, he won with nearly 70% of the vote and was reelected unopposed in later cycles. Notable roles include majority whip for the 2020 session and co-sponsoring the 2023 resolution to expel Democratic lawmakers for decorum violations. He serves on committees such as Finance, Ways, and Means; Judiciary; and Appropriations Subcommittee.
