Johnny DuPree is a Democratic state senator representing Mississippi Senate District 45, which covers parts of Forrest and Lamar counties in the Hattiesburg area. A former mayor of Hattiesburg for 16 years with nearly 40 years in public service, he flipped a Republican-held seat in a special election, breaking the GOP supermajority in the Mississippi Senate for the first time in six years.
