Biography

John Joseph Stone is a Democratic state representative for Strafford District 12 in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, serving the towns of Rollinsford and Somersworth since 2024. Born in March 1953 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, he is a father of four, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in a recon unit in Cambodia and Laos during the Vietnam War—surviving as one of only eight from his 42-man unit—and later worked in construction after moving to New Hampshire in 1977. Health issues ended his contracting career at age 48, during which he received aid from the Community Action Program; now he maintains his homeowners' association grounds and assists neighbors with home improvements. An avid hunter passionate about preserving lakes and forests, Stone supports bringing back manufacturing jobs, lowering housing costs, funding public education, and affordable recreation; his candidacy was backed by International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union No. 63.
