John Stinner
John Stinner is a former Nebraska state senator representing District 48 , serving from 2014 to 2023. A Republican, he is recognized for his banking career, legislative leadership as Appropriations Committee chair , and 2025 induction into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame.
Born October 11, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John Stinner began his career in public accounting in Lincoln, Nebraska, before moving to western Nebraska. There, he co-founded a bank in Gering with local investors, which grew into a major regional employer with over a dozen locations in Nebraska and Colorado's Front Range. His family has resided in Scotts Bluff County for over 26 years. Stinner chaired the Nebraska Bankers Association and has served more than 20 civic organizations, earning numerous awards. In 2025, he was inducted into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame.
