Biography
John Spiros is a Republican representing Wisconsin's 86th Assembly District since 2012, currently serving his seventh term. Born in Akron, Ohio, on July 28, 1961, he lives in Marshfield with his wife Rebecca, a registered nurse; they have five adult children and five grandchildren. He serves as chair of the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety, vice-chair of the Assembly Committee on Transportation, and holds positions on committees including Science, Technology, and AI; State Affairs; Veterans and Military Affairs; and the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules. He is also a member of the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission and Transportation Projects Commission.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Marietta High School in 1979; AAS in an unspecified field.
- Military and Professional Experience: Served six years in the United States Air Force as part of an elite security squad protecting 26 generals and the Strategic Air Command center; later worked as a police officer; currently Vice President of Safety and Claims Management for a local transportation company with 24 years in the industry.
- Political Experience: Served on the Marshfield City Council from 2005 to 2013; elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2012; active in Marshfield Elks, VFW, and American Legion.
