Biography
John Santanella is a Democratic state representative for Connecticut's 58th District, which encompasses Enfield. He assumed office on January 8, 2025, and his term ends in 2027. Prior to this, he has served as Enfield’s Second District Town Councilor since November 2021, where he holds the position of Democratic Minority Leader and plans to continue serving. Santanella grew up in Enfield, attending local public schools including Enfield Street School, JFK, and Enfield High. His professional background includes work at Parker Brothers , Milton Bradley, and Nickelodeon TV Network; after corporate downsizing led to layoffs at Hasbro, he shifted to buying, selling, managing, and advising small businesses across various industries. Notable achievements include introducing Enfield's first resolution in May 2022 to display a pride flag at Town Hall during Pride Month in support of the LGBTQ community , advocating for education, police support, fiscal responsibility, economic development, and reducing community blight. As state representative, he serves on the Commerce, Planning and Development, and Public Safety and Security committees, focusing on children's education, small business promotion, affordable healthcare, childcare, and housing.
