Biography

John Nathan Raney is a businessman and former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 14, encompassing Brazos County including Bryan–College Station. A sixth-generation Texan and owner of Texas Aggieland Bookstore , he served from December 2011 to January 2025. Notable achievements include authoring pro-life legislation like HB 2 , supporting the 2013 Texas State Budget, medical district establishment in College Station, Kyle Field renovations, highway funding, border security, and higher education funding. He chaired the Republican Party of Brazos County in the 1970s, was named Outstanding Member of the Texas Retailers Association in 2010, and earned a 100% pro-life scorecard rating in 2017.
