Delegate John Paul Hott , District 85, West Virginia
John Paul Hott II is a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 85. Born on September 23, 1969, in Petersburg, WV, he works as an insurance agent and disposal service owner, and serves as Assistant Republican Leader , vice chair of the House Banking and Insurance Committee, and chair of the House Forest Management Review Commission.
John Paul Hott II assumed office on December 1, 2018, after winning election in November 2018. He previously represented District 54 before moving to District 85 in 2022. Prior to the House, he served on the Petersburg City Council from 2009 to 2014. Hott is married to Karen, with four children: Brooke Elizabeth, John Paul III, Sarah Ann, and Raphael Heber. He is Pentecostal Christian and affiliated with the Gideons. Notable legislative efforts include sponsoring bills on intrastate bank mergers, public adjuster standards, and reclassifying forestry equipment for tax benefits.
