Biography
John R. McCravy III is a Republican representative for District 13 in the South Carolina House of Representatives, covering most of Greenwood County and parts of Laurens County. Born on September 6, 1958, at Patuxent River Naval Base in Maryland, he has served since 2016 and is noted for his conservative leadership, including founding the South Carolina Family Caucus and authoring the Heartbeat Bill to ban abortions after a detectable fetal heartbeat. Other achievements include sponsoring Dylan's Law for newborn genetic screening , receiving the Palmetto Family Legislative Award and S.C. Sheriffs' Association Legislative Champion Award, and serving as South Carolina State Chairman of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers.
