Biography
John J. Lombardi is a Democratic state representative for District 8 in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, serving the Providence neighborhoods of Federal Hill, Manton, Olneyville, and the Valley since his election in 2012. He also serves as Chief Judge of the Providence Municipal Court since January 2023, after being an Associate Judge since 2014. Previously, he was a Providence City Council member for over 26 years, including as council president from 2002 and acting mayor for four months following Buddy Cianci's conviction. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation to ban patient brokering , prohibit landlord discrimination against formerly incarcerated individuals, allow rental agreement extensions after a lessee's death , and expunge multiple non-violent felony convictions after 10 years.
