Biography
John Douglas Lively is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives representing District 7 . A longtime public servant, he previously served as mayor of Springfield and on its city council from 1977 to 1986. First elected to the House in 2012 for District 12, he shifted to District 7 following redistricting and assumed office there in January 2023. Notable achievements include chairing the House Climate, Energy and Environment Committee, serving on the Economic Development, Small Business and Trade Committee and Higher Education Committee, and advocating for education, small businesses, and bipartisan approaches. His term ends in January 2027, after which he plans to retire.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Thurston High School; attended Lane Community College and the University of Oregon .
- Military Service: Four years in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War era.
