Biography
John J. Lawn, Jr. is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 10th Middlesex District, which includes parts of Newton and Watertown. He assumed office on May 11, 2011, after winning a special election following Peter Koutoujian's resignation to become Middlesex County Sheriff. Previously, he served on the Watertown City Council and owned a real estate business. Lawn has won all eight general elections and primaries since taking office. In October 2019, he endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries. In July 2025, he was arrested near the State House for operating under the influence after a crash, pleaded guilty, and received a 45-day license suspension and one year of probation.
