Biography
John Kolb is a Republican state senator representing District 12 in the Wyoming Senate since January 4, 2021. A businessman and president of Alpha Petroleum Service, Inc., he previously served two four-year terms as Sweetwater County Commissioner, where he increased county reserves from $17 million to over $53 million during economic challenges. Married to Elvira with four children—including two sons who served as Marines—he is a master electrician, holds four Wyoming DEQ testing certificates, and is a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, studying aeronautical engineering.
- Political Experience: Elected to Wyoming Senate District 12 in 2020, defeating incumbent Democrat Liisa Anselmi-Dalton; serves on committees including Joint Committee on the Judiciary , Joint Journal Committee , Wyoming Transportation Commission Liaison , and Senate Committee on State Shooting Complex Oversight Task Force. As county commissioner, he managed budgets and liaised with entities like Sweetwater County Events Complex, Road and Bridge, and city councils.
