John Ignatius Kane, a Democrat representing Pennsylvania State Senate District 9 , is a licensed master plumber and labor leader born on November 12, 1960. He has served as Senator since 2021, following successful campaigns in 2020 and 2024, and previously ran in District 26 in 2014. Married to Lori with four children , he resides in Birmingham, PA. Kane has overcome personal challenges, including 37 years of sobriety from alcohol addiction starting at age 22 and being cancer-free for over five years after a 2015 stage three cancer diagnosis; he credits union benefits for his access to treatment.
