Biography
John Jagler is a Republican politician representing Wisconsin's 13th Senate District since winning a special election in April 2021. Born on November 4, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky, he moved to Wisconsin at age three, settling in Oak Creek. A longtime resident of Watertown with his wife Heidi and three children, Jagler transitioned from a 20-year career in radio broadcasting—where he hosted the morning show on Milwaukee's News Radio 620 WTMJ and earned numerous awards—to politics. Notable positions include chair of the Senate Committee on Education, vice-chair of the Senate Committee on Housing, Rural Issues, and Forestry, and membership on the Committees on Insurance and Small Business, as well as the Joint Legislative Council. He has expressed evolving support for medical marijuana, advocating for public hearings after being swayed by district sentiment.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Oak Creek High School; attended University of Wisconsin–Parkside and Trans-American School of Broadcasting.
- Political Experience: Served as Communications Director for Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald ; elected to Wisconsin State Assembly for the 37th District ; elected to State Senate District 13 in 2021 special election. Member of Agricultural Education and Workforce Development Council and Education Commission of the States.
