Biography
John Faircloth , born February 19, 1939, is a former Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He represented House District 62 , covering parts of western Guilford County, from 2011 until his resignation in September 2024. Notable achievements include sponsoring H937, which expanded concealed carry rights for permit holders in bars/restaurants and allowed locked firearms in vehicles on school campuses, and a 2013 bill raising the age for trying certain juvenile felons as adults. His top issues were protecting free-market economies, public safety, and education. He resides in High Point, NC.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree from Guilford College; master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; additional studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Louisville.
Political Experience: Career as a police officer, serving as police chief of Salisbury and High Point ; real estate agent since 1992. First elected to the NC House in 2010 as a Republican, defeating Democrat Brandon Gray in 2020; did not seek reelection and resigned effective September 6, 2024, at age 85; seat filled by John Blust.
