John M. Eder was born on January 18, 1969, and is an American activist and politician from Maine. He currently resides in Waterboro and is a self-employed house painter, political consultant, and outreach coordinator for Health Choice Maine. Eder is married to Lauren Besanko and has two children.
Education and Background
Eder holds a bachelor's degree. Beyond his professional work, he is actively involved in his community as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Waterboro Aerie #4392, Hiram Lodge #180, and the Upward Homeschool Co-op of Waterboro.
Political Experience
Party Affiliation: Eder is a member of the Maine Republican Party. He previously held memberships in the Maine Green Independent Party and the Maine Democratic Party, demonstrating his political evolution over time.
Legislative Service: Eder is serving his third nonconsecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives. He initially served two consecutive terms after being elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2004, during which he was the legislature's first member of the Green Party. After a period away from the legislature, he became a Republican in 2024 and was elected to represent House District 136, which serves the communities of Alfred, Lyman , and Waterboro .
