Biography

John DiMaio is a Republican Assembly Member representing New Jersey's 23rd Legislative District, which includes parts of Hunterdon, Somerset, and Warren counties. Born on November 27, 1955, he is a lifelong resident of Hackettstown, New Jersey, where he owns A. DiMaio and Son Inc., a general contracting business. He has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since March 2009, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy, and was reelected multiple times, including strong performances such as receiving 46,020 votes in a recent election. Notable leadership roles include Minority Leader since January 2022, co-chair of the Republican Conference , and Budget Officer . He currently serves on the State House Commission .

  • Early Political Career: First elected at age 23, served as Hackettstown Councilman and Mayor ; President of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors in 1999.
