John F. Curran is a Republican state senator representing Illinois Senate District 41 since 2017. He serves as the Illinois Senate Minority Leader, a position he has held since 2023 after being unanimously elected by his caucus. A resident of Downers Grove, Illinois, Curran is married to Sue and has four daughters. He began his public service career as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for 19 years, rising to Chief of the Special Litigation Division. Notable achievements include leading DuPage County Board efforts that saved over $145 million in taxpayer funds through government consolidation and accountability measures, advocating for clean air regulations in Willowbrook, and pushing ethics reforms as Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Ethics Committee. He has received awards such as the Defender of the Innocence from the Illinois Innocence Project and serves on the Board of Directors for the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation.
