John H. Bucy III is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives serving District 136, which covers parts of Williamson County including Northwest Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Leander, and the Brushy Creek area. A native Texan born on June 26, 1984, in Austin, he is a small business owner who founded the Texas Charter Schools Academic and Athletic League, serving over 200,000 public school students in athletic, academic, and arts competitions. First elected in 2018, he has earned notable recognitions including House Democratic Caucus Freshman of the Year ** and *Best Local Elected Official by Hill Country News *. He serves as **Chair of the Young Texans Legislative Caucus, Vice Chair of the Innovation & Technology Caucus, and holds positions such as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Elections and Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Disease Prevention and Women’s and Children’s Health in the 89th Legislative Session. Bucy is also on the board of Special Olympics of Texas and supports the Big Bend Conservancy.
