Representative John Bear

John William Bear is a Republican state representative from Wyoming representing House District 31 in Campbell County. He was born in Trenton, Missouri, and currently resides in Gillette, Wyoming, with his spouse Sage Coulter Bear. He has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

Education

Bear holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder, which he earned between 1984 and 1988.

Political Experience

Bear has served as a Representative in the Wyoming State House of Representatives for District 31 since 2021. He also serves as co-chairman of the Joint Appropriations Committee.

Prior to his current tenure, Bear ran for re-election to House District 31 in both 2022 and 2024. He served as Chairman of the Wyoming Freedom Caucus in 2022.

Beyond his legislative work, Bear is the owner of Bear's Dry Cleaners, a business he has operated since 2007. He is also a member of the United States Navy.
