Biography
John L. Bartholomew is a Democratic representative for Windsor-1 in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving the towns of Hartland, Windsor, and West Windsor since 2011. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Hartland, Windsor County, in 2005; he is married to Julianne Harden and they have one daughter, Marta. A retired veterinarian and former Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service, he previously served as chief of the Research Animal Management Branch at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, MD. Notable positions include Vice Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture, Food Resiliency, and Forestry, member of the House Rules Committee and Canvassing Committee, and service on the University of Vermont Board of Trustees, Hartland Boards of Civil Authority and Abatement , and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Majored in zoology and botany at the University of Oklahoma; earned a BS in agriculture and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Vermont House in 2011 and serving continuously through 2026; also assigned to the House Committee on Transportation.
