Johnnie Newton Autry is an American politician and former member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. A Democrat, he represented District 100 in Mecklenburg County from 2016 until announcing on November 9, 2023, that he would not seek reelection in 2024. Prior to his state legislative service, Autry served on the Charlotte City Council representing District 5, elected in 2011. He is a member of the executive committee of the North Carolina Democratic Party, chair of Precinct 6, and has served on the Mecklenburg Soil and Water Conservation District Board since 2006. Autry was a co-recipient of the 2010 Courage Award from the Charlotte Black Political Caucus and works as chief technology officer and partner at W.A.R.N., LLC.
