Biography
John Albers is a Republican state senator representing District 56 in the Georgia State Senate, covering portions of Fulton and Cherokee Counties. He serves as Chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee and Vice Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and is a member of the Senate Appropriations, Rules, Regulated Industries and Utilities, and Veterans, Military committees. Notable achievements include being named Legislator of the Year multiple times by the Georgia State Firefighters Association and Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs , and by the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council ; he also authored Senate Bill 58, the Georgia Transporting Life-Saving Organs and Personnel Act, signed into law in 2025. A fourth-generation firefighter and volunteer for over 30 years, Albers donated a kidney to his son in 2021 and passed the Giving the Gift of Life Act to promote organ donation. He is a business owner and executive with nearly three decades of management experience, married to Kari for over 27 years, with two sons, and active in community groups like the NRA, Kiwanis, Roswell Rotary, and Roswell United Methodist Church.
