Joey Hensley is a Republican State Senator representing District 28 in the Tennessee Senate, covering Giles, Lawrence, Lewis, Maury, Perry, and Wayne counties. Born on July 28, 1955, he resides in Hohenwald, TN, and is married to Gina. First elected to the Senate in 2012, he currently serves in the 114th General Assembly, with his next election in 2028. Notable positions include Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Ways and Means , and member of the Senate Committees on Health and Welfare, Education, and Joint Council on Pensions.

Education and Political Experience

Hensley is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, and Tennessee Medical Association, reflecting his background as a physician, including service as Lewis County Medical Examiner. His political experience includes prior service in the Tennessee House before moving to the Senate .
