Joel C. Kitchens is a Republican politician and retired large animal veterinarian representing Wisconsin's 1st Assembly District since 2015. Born on September 20, 1957, in Washington, D.C., he grew up moving frequently as the son of an FBI Special Agent, attending schools in four different states before settling in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin.

He married Sherry Billet, also a veterinarian, after college; in 1984, they moved to Sturgeon Bay and established a veterinary practice serving Door and Kewaunee Counties for over 30 years. They have three adult children: Rebecca, Caroline, and Will. Sherry continues operating Peninsula Veterinary Service.

Notable achievements include serving 13 years on the Sturgeon Bay School Board and current roles on the Door County Medical Center board and as a member of the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church.

Education

Kitchens earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University.

Political Experience

Elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2015 for District 1 , Kitchens serves as a Republican representative focused on constituent services. Prior experience includes leadership on the Sturgeon Bay School Board from 1999.
