Joe Statler is a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 77 . Born December 8, 1952, in Morgantown, West Virginia, he is a lifetime resident of Core, where he retired from coal mining with Consolidated Coal Company and now manages his family's 256-acre farm. He is married to Louie, with three daughters and four grandchildren; his parents were Willis and Maxine Statler. A Methodist, he is active in community boards including the Clark Family Foundation, Mylan Park, Operation Welcome Home, PACE, MPO, and Olive United Methodist Church Trustee.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Graduated from Clay-Battelle High School.
• Political Experience: Assumed office December 1, 2022; re-elected multiple times. Served on Monongalia County Board of Education ; chair of Morgantown-Monongalia Metropolitan Planning Organization; METC Advisory Board since 1992; co-chair of Clay-Battelle Athletic Facilities Board.
• Notable Achievements and Positions: Sponsored the LOCAL Act for road improvements; vice chair of House Education Committee; created and chaired first House Committee on Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services; strong advocate for agricultural education and WVU Extension; serves on County Extension Service Committee.
