Joe A. Palmer is a Republican Idaho State Representative serving District 20A since 2008.

Joe Palmer is a fourth-generation Idahoan, born and raised in the Treasure Valley area of Meridian, Idaho. He is married to Leslie for over 34 years, with four children and seven grandchildren. Palmer owns and has operated a small business in the area for 32 years. He served in the Idaho National Guard and enjoys flying in Idaho's backcountry. Notable achievements include serving eight years as chair of the Transportation & Defense Committee, where he championed the Highway 16 project completion, and running for Mayor of Meridian in 2019 . He won re-election in 2024, defeating opponent Navarro in the general election.

Education and Political Experience

• Graduated from Meridian High School.
• Attended Ricks College.
• Served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montana.
• Earned a degree from Boise State University.

Palmer has served 11+ years in the Idaho House of Representatives for District 20A, including as chair of the Transportation & Defense Committee and member of the Business State Affairs Committee. He has often run unopposed in Republican primaries.
