Biography

Joe Lovvorn is a Republican representative for Alabama House District 79, which includes Lee County and is home to Auburn University. Born Joseph Floy Lovvorn on September 5, 1976, in Graham, Alabama, he is the son of farmer Terry Lovvorn and school teacher Sherry Lovvorn. A lifelong Auburn supporter with degrees from the university, Lovvorn serves as Chair of the Rules Committee and Chair of Lee County Legislation, and holds positions on committees including Ways and Means Education, Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks, Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on Finances and Budget, Permanent Legislative Committee on Reapportionment, and Joint Legislative Advisory Committee on Community Service Grants. Notable achievements include receiving the Spirit of Auburn Award in 2011 for his dedication to 2011 tornado relief efforts in Tuscaloosa, and participation in the 2005/2006 Alabama Cooperative Extension Service Agricultural and Business Leadership Program focused on economic development. He works as a Battalion Chief firefighter, Realtor, and owner of the Two Men and a Truck franchise in Auburn/Montgomery, and serves on the Auburn Chamber of Commerce board.
