Biography
Joe Gresko is the state representative for Connecticut's 121st House District in Stratford, first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2024. As Deputy Speaker of the House, he previously chaired the Environment Committee and serves on the Energy & Technology Committee, Executive & Legislative Nominations Committee, and Joint Committee on Legislative Management. Notable achievements include securing funding for Stratford High School, the South End Community Center, Sterling House, Connecticut Air and Space Center, and Grasso property preservation; he received Legislator of the Year awards from the Bridgeport Regional Business Council , Connecticut Waterworks and Connecticut Farm Bureau , and Central Coast YMCA. Born in Stratford, he leads community efforts like the Housatonic River Clean-Up, supports the Connecticut Food Bank, and is involved with Stratford Rotary, VFW Post 9460, and other local groups; Governor Ned Lamont appointed him to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science from Central Connecticut State University.
- Professional Experience: Weather forecaster at Western Connecticut State University; radio news reporter at WICC/WEBE; managed media relations and public affairs for Bridgeport's administration ; Deputy Chief of Staff for House Speaker Jim Amann; currently works on green economy initiatives in Bridgeport focused on energy efficiency, renewables, urban forestation, and sustainable development.
