Biography

Joe Fain is a Republican who served as a member of the Washington State Senate representing the 47th Legislative District from 2011 to 2019. Born on December 23, 1980, he is a lawyer and politician who was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, serving as Senate Minority Floor Leader in 2018 and Majority Floor Leader in prior sessions. Notable achievements include leading negotiations for the 2015 statewide transportation package funding South King County projects, restoring state food assistance funding by $9 million, sponsoring the Real Hope Act for education access, championing animal protection and open government training, securing flood control and levee funding, and prime-sponsoring Paid Family Leave legislation in 2017. After leaving the Senate, he became President and CEO of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, with prior roles in law, prosecution, and King County government.
