Biography

Joe Adams is a Democratic representative for District 86 in the Missouri House of Representatives, covering parts of St. Louis County including University City, Pagedale, Vinita Park, Wellston, Vinita Terrace, and Hanley Hills. Born on January 4, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, he has served multiple terms: first elected in 2014, from 2015 to 2019, reelected in 2020 for 2021-2025, and currently in his third two-year term as of recent records. Notable achievements include serving as Mayor of University City from 1995 to 2010, University City Councilman from 1975 to 1995, and president of the Missouri Municipal League . He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, history professor at St. Louis Community College at Meramec for 32 years , and has held leadership roles on boards such as the Missouri Historic Record Commission, Missouri Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation, and Loop Trolley. Adams resides in University City with his wife Nancy; they have four children and four grandchildren.
