Jodi Salvo

Jodi Salvo is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 51st district, which covers Tuscarawas and Southern Stark Counties. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was elected to the state legislature in 2024, defeating both the incumbent in the primary and Democrat Joe Rhinehart in the general election.

Salvo is married to Phil and has two children, Matthew and Jeremy. Before her election to the state legislature, she served as the Director of Substance Use Prevention Services at OhioGuidestone, a leading behavioral health organization in Ohio, and coordinated the Empower Tusc initiative.

Education

Salvo earned a bachelor's degree in social work from California University of Pennsylvania in 1991 and a master's degree in social work from Marywood University in 1994.

Political Experience

Salvo brings extensive professional experience in behavioral health and community advocacy to her legislative role. Her career background includes positions as a nonprofit director, medical social worker, home health care social worker, and rehabilitation unit case manager, with over a decade of focus on substance use prevention, mental health wellness, and suicide prevention.

Prior to her election, she served in numerous leadership roles including president and advisory council member of Ohio's Statewide Prevention Coalition Association. She has held positions on the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage & Family Therapist Board and the Ohio Prevention Professionals Association. Additionally, she has been active with various community organizations including the Tuscarawas County Addiction Task Force, Children & Family First Council, Tusc Against Trafficking, and the Tuscarawas Chamber of Commerce.

In the state legislature, Salvo serves as Vice Chair of the Children and Human Services Committee. She has demonstrated commitment to advancing conservative Republican values and advocating for residents of her district through legislative testimony and community engagement.
