Representative Jodi Emerson
Jodi Emerson is a Democratic state representative serving Wisconsin's 91st Assembly District, which encompasses various localities within the Chippewa Valley region. She was first elected in 2018 and continues to represent her community in the Wisconsin State Legislature.
Emerson grew up in Eau Claire and remains deeply rooted in the Chippewa Valley community. She and her husband purchased their first home in the area in 1996, where they raised their two children. She is now a grandmother to two granddaughters. Her family has deep ties to the region—her grandfather was a farmer, and her father worked at Uniroyal until the facility closed.
Outside of her legislative work, Emerson has been actively involved in community organizations, including the Wisconsin Parent Teacher Association and Girl Scouts. She is a proud member of the Eastside Hill community, where she previously served on the neighborhood association's steering committee.
Education
Emerson graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School and went on to study biotechnology at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Political Experience
Emerson's involvement in public service began as a staunch advocate against human trafficking, which led her to join numerous community organizations focused on this issue. Her legislative priorities include making housing and child care more affordable, providing tax relief to small businesses, improving healthcare access, and protecting families' ability to access reproductive medical treatments including IVF.
Her current committee assignments include the Assembly Committees for Colleges and Universities, Rural Development, Criminal Justice and Public Safety, and Housing and Real Estate. She serves as Ranking Democrat on both the Colleges and Universities and Rural Development Committees, and as Vice-Chair of the Speaker's Task Force on Human Trafficking. She also holds the position of Minority Caucus Sergeant at Arms as of 2025.
Emerson is a member of the Wisconsin Women's Council, the Governor's Council on Migrant Labor, the Transportation Projects Commission, and the Wisconsin Human Trafficking Advisory Council.
